For High School Equivalency (HSE), two computer-based testing (CBT) pathways are available through testing centers or proctored at home: the GED® test or the HiSET® exam. Athens Tech also offers a workforce-based solution to a high school diploma through joint enrollment called Career Plus.
Integrated Education Training / Workplace Literary Programs
IET courses combine basic education with workforce training for specific careers, while WPL programs focus on improving job-related skills like reading, digital literacy, and teamwork.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
We offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes for adults who are learning English or who seek to improve their abilities.
High School Equivalency
If you didn’t finish high school, we offer free classes in each of the counties in our service area to help you prepare to take the GED test or HiSET exam.
Career Plus High School
Need to finish high school? Career Plus offers the flexibility to earn a high school diploma and college credentials at the same time.
To Enroll in High School Equivalency Courses
- Submit the online Application for Admissions (free application).
- One of our instructors will reach out to you.
- Upon acceptance, you will need to attend an orientation class at one of our instruction sites. You will complete an intake form and an assessment which will help us put you at the correct level of study.

- During the orientation session you will complete an application, learn about the program, and complete necessary placement testing.
