Georgia Department of Transportation Examinations

The Athens Technical College Economic Development Department administers the written portion of the GDOT Aggregate Certification, Roadway Testing Technician (RTT), and Quality Control Technician Level 1 Certification (QCT Asphalt) examinations.

WHEN:

The exams are offered every 1st and 3rd Tuesday and begin at 9:00A.M. (Please arrive at least 30 minutes early)

  • The Aggregate Certification Examination is timed for 3 hours.
  • The Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) Examination is timed for 3 hours.
  • The Quality Control Technician (QCT) Examination is timed for 2 hours.

2022 Test Dates:

January 4th and 18th
February 1st and 15th
March 1st and 15th
April 5th and 19th
May 3rd and 17th
June 7th and 21st
July 5th and 19th
August 2nd and 16th
September 6th and 20th
October 4th and 18th
November 1st and 15th
December 6th

Note that you must wait 30 days to retake the exam after your first failed attempt, 90 days after your second failed attempt, and 1 year after your third failed attempt.

COST:

Each exam is $150.00 (to be paid on the day of the exam at the Cashier's Desk located in the H building).

Payment Method: Cash, Check (bring your driver's license with you), Mastercard, Visa, or Discover.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Please click on the desired link below and fill out the examination sign-up sheet. Once this is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email from jusry@athenstech.edu.NOTE: You must register for the exam at least one week prior to test date.

STUDY GUIDES:

You can print a copy of the appropriate study guide at the links below or pick a copy up from the Athens Technical College Office of Economic Development located in Building N at 800 U.S. Hwy 29 North, Athens GA, 30601. Please note that on the day of the exam, you will be required to use the copy of the study guide belonging to the college.
