Athens Technical College Partners with Rivian Technical Trades Program
Information session to be held Nov. 7 in Monroe
Athens Technical College is pleased to announce the launch of a partnership with the Rivian Technical Trades program, providing individuals with a unique opportunity to fast-track their careers in skilled trades. This program offers courses in Industrial Systems Technology and Precision Machining and Manufacturing, empowering participants to stay ahead in the dynamic field of advanced manufacturing.
To inform prospective candidates about this exciting opportunity, Rivian will be hosting an information session at Athens Technical College’s Walton County Campus on Nov. 7 at 212 Bryant Road in Monroe, Georgia. The session is scheduled from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, providing attendees with a chance to learn more about the program and connect with Rivian representatives.
Starting in January 2024, the program is structured to provide comprehensive education and hands-on experience. Participants will begin by immersing themselves in the latest advancements in manufacturing technology. The program entails an initial period of academic study, followed by practical training within Rivian’s cutting-edge factory located in Normal, IL.
To be eligible for the Rivian Technical Trades program, applicants must meet specific requirements:
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED
- Be 18 years of age before the factory rotation
- Display willingness and ability to temporarily relocate to Rivian’s Normal, IL factory
- Commit to submitting weekly reports to program supervisors
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will earn maintenance certificates and journey worker certificates from the Department of Labor, equipping them to pursue diverse roles and work any shift within Rivian’s operations.
Participants in the program will be employed as full-time team members and receive a competitive pay rate and benefits package. During the academic phase, students will be compensated at a rate of $20 per hour, which will increase to $25 per hour upon relocation to the Normal, IL factory, where they will work as entry-level maintenance technicians or tool & die makers.
