E-Learning Information
Athens Technical College offers a number of e-learning opportunities. Many students find the online environment a convenient way to fit education into their busy lives.
E-Learning Options
- Online: Courses designated as online are delivered via the Internet. Completion of e-learning orientation and advisor preapproval are required before registering for online classes. Some online courses require one or more proctored exams. A proctored exam requires students to come to one of the ATC campuses to complete the exam as directed by the instructor. If a student lives outside of the ATC service region, it is the student’s responsibility to locate a proctor and obtain proctor approval from his or her instructor. Students who take online courses need strong study, time management, Internet, and reading comprehension skills to be successful. On average, online courses require a minimum time commitment of 15 hours each week to complete all assignments. Students interact with the instructor and other students through the online learning environment.
- Hybrid: Courses designated as hybrid are taught partially online and partially in the classroom at the designated campus.
- Web-Enhanced: Traditional classroom courses that use the Internet as a component of the course are designated as web-enhanced. The web-based component of the course supports classroom instruction and may require students to use the Internet in order to interact with one another and the instructor, do research, complete and/or submit assignments, or take tests.
- Interactive Audio-Video Conferencing: Courses taught face to face at two or more locations at the same time are designated as interactive audio-video. The course is delivered by interactive audio-video technologies with the instructor teaching in one of the classroom locations and broadcasting to the other classroom location.

You are not permitted to take an online class until you have completed the e-learning orientation and received clearance from your advisor.
