Scholarships Available From the Athens Tech Foundation | July 27 Deadline

The Athens Tech Foundation is currently accepting applications for a number of scholarships. Available scholarships include opportunities for graduating high school seniors, and current Athens Technical College students. The application deadline for the current round of scholarships is Monday, July 27.

Interior Design Students Revamp Major Manufacturer’s Office

Date: July 17, 2015

Interior Design students Deb Kight and Kellie Burden received hands-on experience while completing interior design work for Nibco, a manufacturing company located in Greensboro, Ga. Nibco is a leading international provider of valves, fittings, and piping products used in plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and irrigation.

Dental Hygiene Students and Faculty Volunteer to Provide Free Dental Care

Date: July 16, 2015

Students and faculty from the Dental Hygiene program volunteered with the Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM) on June 19 and 20. Held this year in Perry, Ga., GMOM is a free, large-scale portable dental clinic for low- and no-income adults who are unable to pay for dental care. Over the two days, Athens Technical College students and faculty assisted volunteer dentists and other dental health professionals to provide dental care and oral health education to more than 2,200 patients.

Cosmetology Students Learn from Guest Barber

Date: July 10, 2015

Students in Theresa Cleghorne’s cosmetology practicum class received a valuable demonstration from a veteran barber. Raymond Duncan brought over 60 years of experience to the class as he demonstrated various barbering skills for the students. While he showed techniques on using scissors versus clippers and how to trim a beard, he also shared stories from his years as a barber and shop owner.

Culinary Arts Courses Now Available in Athens and Monroe

Date: July 8, 2015

Students interested in taking Culinary Arts courses now have the option of enrolling in classes at the Walton County Campus of Athens Technical College or at the Athens Community Career Academy (ACCA). Starting August 24, Athens Technical College will offer Culinary Arts classes during the day at the ACCA.
