Mr. Frank J. Christa

Mr. Frank J. Christa is a retired bank president. He served as founding President and Director of the Bank of Georgia in Oconee County. After being sold to Synovus, the Bank of Georgia merged with Athens First Bank & Trust, where Frank served as Senior Vice President until he retired in 2002. Frank's banking career began in 1965 as a Financial Analyst with Dun & Bradstreet. Other positions in the banking industry which he held include Senior Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Vice President at First Bank & Trust Company of Marietta, GA., and Vice President with Economic Consultants, Inc. in Miami, FL. Frank served as a Transportation Officer in the U. S. Army from 1963 until 1965. Prior to serving in the military, Frank taught school for one year at South Cobb High School.

Frank graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in history and education. He completed post-graduate studies at Georgia State University, Rutgers University and the University of Delaware, and he earned a graduate degree in banking.

Frank is an active volunteer within his community. He is a member of the Emanuel Episcopal Church in Athens, GA., the Athens Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees, the Classic City Rotary Club, the Touchdown Club of Athens and the Monday Morning Quarterback Club. He previously served as a Director and as Chairman of the Athens Technical College Local Board of Directors, as Chairman of the Oconee Heart Fund, as a Director of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce and as a founding Director of the Oconee Education Foundation. Additional former memberships include the Boy Scout Foundation, Oconee Clean & Beautiful Commission and the University of Georgia Alumni Association. Frank also served as an organizer of the Oconee County Community Center and as a coach for youth football, basketball and baseball leagues.

Frank is married to Peggy. They have two children, Dr. Michael Christa and Cathy Martin, and four grandchildren.
