Athens Technical College's Adult Education Division Receives State Award

The Adult Education division of Athens Technical College (ATC) received an award from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) for exceeding each of its eleven Educational Gain Benchmarks. The Overall Achievement of Educational Gain Benchmarks award highlighted the Adult Education program’s success at meeting or exceeding all of its National Reporting System (NRS) goals. The benchmarks measure students' educational gains in Adult Basic and Secondary Education as well as English as a Second Language. Students positively impact this measure when they achieve post-test scores that place them into a higher level.
Stephanie Benson, Vice President of Adult Education commented, "This award is a reflection of how dedicated the team is to serving the residents of our ten county service area. We have a strong, hardworking group that share the common goal of changing lives through education."
President Andrea Daniel, D.B.A., who was on hand to receive the award stated, "The Athens Technical College Adult Education/GED® program provides the opportunity for students who need to earn a GED® to do so and gain a pathway to a competitive career. The staff and faculty of this program, care deeply about student success and help students achieve this important milestone."
The Adult Education Department at Athens Technical College has been operational for over 20 years. The department was created to help adults of all ages acquire skills that make them more successful in the workplace, the college environment, and in all parts of society. The Adult Education program offers free classes within each of Athens Technical College's ten county service area providing instruction for nonreaders up to those preparing for the GED® test.
