Dr. Andrea Daniel Promoted to Executive Vice President for Athens Technical College

Dr. Andrea Daniel, a long-serving administrator at Athens Technical College, has been promoted to executive vice president, effective November 9.
In her new role, Dr. Daniel will assist the president of Athens Technical College and the executive staff in maximizing the college’s performance and achieving its goals. Her responsibilities will include working with all divisions of the college to insure policies and goals are translated into daily and strategic operations that will ultimately support student success and operational efficiency.
Dr. Daniel has most currently led the economic development arm of Athens Technical College as vice president for Economic Development Services.
“Dr. Daniel’s wide and varied experience across several departments at Athens Technical College certainly qualifies her for this role, as well as her extensive leadership experience,” said Athens Technical College Interim President Dr. Gail Thaxton. “There are many ways we can continue to better serve our students and I am excited to have her support and assistance.”
Over the course of her career at Athens Technical College, Dr. Daniel has served as vice president for student affairs, vice president for external affairs, and college registrar. She started her career at Athens Technical College as the director of student services on the Elbert County Campus. Prior to joining Athens Technical College, Dr. Daniel worked as a senior planning analyst for the Atlanta Regional Commission on projects including the Outer Loop Study, Vision 2020 Education Stakeholder Committee, and Olympic Transportation Planning. Additionally, she is a former co-owner of a table-top retail gift store in her hometown of Elberton, Ga.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve Athens Technical College as the executive vice president,” Dr. Daniel said. “The dedicated faculty, staff, students and community and corporate partners allow us to work together to achieve success.”
Dr. Daniel earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Lander University, her master’s degree in public administration from The University of Georgia and her doctorate in business administration specializing in organizational leadership from Northcentral University.
