Machine Tools and Industrial Systems Holds Open House
Date: May 7, 2015
The Machine Tools Technology and Industrial Systems Technology programs held an open house and lunch at the Walton County Campus on March 25. Local officials and industry leaders enjoyed lunch prepared by the Culinary Arts students before touring the Machine Tools Technology and Industrial Systems Technology labs.
Machine Tools Technology relocated from the Athens Campus to the Walton County Campus at the start of the spring semester. During the open house, several Machine Tools Technology students demonstrated equipment as they worked on class projects. Stuart Rolf, Machine Tools Technology program chair, explained that the equipment they use in labs is what graduates will work with in industry.
Industrial Systems Technology also showed their expanded lab space. Mike Samadi, Industrial Systems Technology program chair, explained to guests how students use the lab space to work on projects much like situations they will experience working with companies. Both Industrial Systems Technology and Machine Tools Technology work closely with local industry partners to develop and maintain curriculum and lab experiences that prepare students for jobs.
