Achieving the Dream requires colleges to develop an institutional plan based on research and data analysis for improving student success rates. At Athens Technical College, the data-gathering process included collecting quantitative data, holding campus conversations with students, faculty, and staff, and analyzing college policies.

As a result of this work, Athens Technical College is focusing on three Achieving the Dream priorities in the college's plan to improve student success:

• Priority 1.) Redesigning the college's learning support programs
• Priority 2.) Revising approaches to student engagement and retention
• Priority 3.) Expanding faculty and staff development to create better connections with students
