Alumni event to feature classic cars, motorcycles, hot rods, and CAT equipment
Automotive enthusiasts will flock to the Athens Technical College Athens Campus Saturday, October 26, for the 4th Annual Athens Technical College Alumni Association Open Car & Motorcycle Show that will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year, alumni organizers have expanded the vehicle showing to include motorcycles, and participants will include people with classic automobiles, rat rods, hot rods and newer vehicles. Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best Motorcycle, Best of Divisions, and Top 25. Those who wish to show their cars or motorcycles can register for the event for $20 each at the show on Saturday. All registrants will receive a goody bag and door prize ticket.
The event is open to the public, and spectators can attend at no charge. Concessions will be available, including offerings from the award-winning Culinary Arts program at the college.
Additionally, Caterpillar dealer Yancey Brothers will display new Caterpillar equipment, and several Athens Technical College programs — Automotive Technology Repair, Automotive Collision Repair, Emergency Medical Technician, and Commercial Truck Driving — will present vehicles for viewing. The automotive programs expect to show off the Mighty Max truck that students assembled. The vehicle features a 406-cubic-inch, small block Chevrolet motor that generates 450 horsepower.
