Several student groups at Athens Technical College are organizing a one-mile fun run/walk March 9 on the college’s campus to benefit the charity Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls collects gently used or new shoes and money to provide shoes to those in need.

The inaugural Chi Zeta Classic, named for the college’s Chi Zeta chapter of Alpha Beta Gamma international business honor society,  is being planned by the Chi Zeta members, the Early Childhood Educations Student Association, the International Association of Administrative Professionals, and the Athens Tech Student Ambassadors. The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m., March 9.

The registration fee is $10 per person, and participants and spectators are asked to bring gently used shoes to donate at the event. Collection boxes will be at the site on race day. All participants who pre-registered will get a T-shirt on the day of the race.  Water and other snacks as well as door prizes will be available at the event. Deadline for pre-registration is February 28.
