Culinary Arts student captures a Les Dames scholarship

Athens Technical College Culinary Arts student Yvonne Sprinkle was one of seven students who won a Les Dames d’ Escoffier International scholarship this year funded by the Atlanta chapter of the worldwide organization.

Ms. Sprinkle’s $1,000 scholarship was announced and presented during the Les Dames d’Escoffier International Atlanta Chapter’s annual fundraiser, Afternoon in the Country, a food and wine extravaganza held November 4 at the Inn at Serenbe in Palmetto, Georgia. More than 80 regional chefs show off their skills at the event, which also features fine wines and micro-brews. Proceeds from the event benefit the Atlanta Chapter's scholarship fund and the Georgia farming community.

Les Dames d’Escoffier International comprises a society of women who organize educational and charitable events and activities to support women in culinary professions.

Nationally, each Les Dames Chapter conducts fundraising projects and awards scholarships to women in culinary, beverage and hospitality industries. To date, the 26 Chapters around the US, Canada and Australia have collectively awarded more than $2 million in culinary scholarships.
