Upon moving to Athens, Ga in 1987 with her spouse and two sons, Manicka's first career decision started with the Internal Revenue Service as a Data Transcriber in 1988.
However, her heart's desire was to attend school, so she registered at Athens Technical Institute, Athens Technical College, in 1993 where her educational journey began.
In 2000, Manicka graduated from Athens Technical College with her A.A. degree in both Accounting and General Business. Since only a few more classes were needed, she decided to proceed with a third A.A. degree in the Microcomputer User Specialist Program that she completed in 2001.
Thereafter, Old Dominion University had moved onto the Athens Technical College campus, and offered her the opportunity to complete her B.S. degree within two years. However, as a part-time student and full-time employee with a family, she completed the B.S. program in Professional Communications in 2006.
With her immense thirst for knowledge and enjoyment in the educational process, Manicka matriculated into the graduate's program with Central Michigan University in 2008, where she anticipates completion in 2011. Time can only tell where this educational journey will take her.
Manicka would like to thank her husband of twenty-two years, and three sons for their continued patience as she endured many challenging moments (deadlines).
